JOB TITLE:                     Teen Advocate
HOURS:                            Full time, 40 hours per week
CATEGORY:                    Professional, Exempt
REPORTS TO:                 Crisis and Advocacy Services Director

PRIMARY FUNCTION:Teen Advocate within Crisis and Advocacy Services will assist teen and child victims of domestic, dating violence, stalking and sexual violence residing in Lackawanna County. Provide empowerment counseling to victims/survivors of domestic, dating violence, stalking and sexual violence through individual and group counseling. Provide accompaniment to court and hospitals for support and advocacy. Assist victim/survivors in navigating the criminal justice systems and advocate within systems to ensure responsiveness to the needs of victims. Educate area teens on safety and risk reduction for dating violence, sexual violence, stalking and domestic violence in collaboration with other community agencies.

TEEN ADVOCATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in social work or related human services field or
  • A combination of three years education, experience and skill in working with victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
  • Applicant must successfully complete the WRC crisis intervention training within six months of hire.
  • Travel is necessary and access to reliable transportation is essential, including for training and development which may necessitate being out of the area for a period of time over night stays.
  • Pass Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances.
  • Must be willing to schedule working hours to coincide with the priorities of the Center.

    JOB TITLE:                      Safe House Counselor Advocate HPRP
    HOURS:                            40 hrs/week, Days Sunday thru Thursday
    CATEGORY:                    Hourly, non exempt
    REPORTS TO:                 Safe House Manager

    PRIMARY FUNCTION:Provide counseling, case management and advocacy to shelter residents and program participants in a manner consistent with the mission of WRC and in full compliance with all policies and procedures of the agency. Work with all shelter staff to maintain the safety, security, cleanliness and organization of the residence.

    SAFE HOUSE COUNSELOR ADVOCATE HPRP QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related human services field, or
  • Combination of four years education and experience and skill in working with victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
  • Applicant must successfully complete the WRC crisis intervention training within six months of hire.
